My brake light cable had frozen up and caused the nylon wedge on the inner side of the brake cable to break. I removed the cable(you'll need two ten mil open wrenches and a 12 mm socket, one bolt is shared with brake cable you may not see the smaller cable at first)and lubed it with rust remover and then lubed it again. I then jimmy rigged a new wedge utilizing safety wire which I used to make an inverted cone to keep the cable from slipping through the metal strip which connects the cable to the brake pedal. I did buy a new OEM cable incase my quick fixed failed. Yet, I'm going on three months of usage and so far the safety wire has held. Good luck and have patience removing the cable.
